About Me

Hi, my name is Sophia, and I am a freshman at Peddie. I am new to the robotics team this year and am a part of the programming subteam. I joined this team because I love working with robots and code, and could picture myself having a blast working with the awesome people on this team and programming the really cool robots.

Prior to joining this team, I competed in the FIRST Lego League and had so much fun doing so. Although my team was very minimal and amateur, never ranking high, I still had so much fun. I didn’t mind staying at school after school hours and on weekends to work on the robot because it was so much fun - it didn’t feel like “school” to me. It felt like I was hanging out with my friends, having fun and eating donuts. After that, I learned real-world coding languages such as HTML and CSS, as well as some basic JavaScript. The challenge of getting the code to work exactly right, as well as designing my web pages to look good, was a fun puzzle. I would code for hours in my free time.

Outside of robotics and programming, I play piano - I have played for 8 years and really enjoy playing. I also love long hikes and bike rides, jet-skiing on the ocean, rollerblading, and ice skating, among other things. At Peddie, I play field hockey and am going to play lacrosse for the first time this year!
